Lexington Mayor Promotes Regionalism

 

Celebrate Vision A HUGE Success

BLUEGRASS TOMORROW ANNOUNCES VISION AWARD WINNERS AND PARTY PICS

 

The Board of Directors of Bluegrass Tomorrow rewarded visionary regional planning at their annual celebration on September 21, 2002. Mr. and Mrs. Graham Beck's Gainesway Farm was the host for this event.

Entertainment was provided by the Lexington Philharmonic.

Vision Award winners were recognized for their contributions to our region's quality of life in the following areas:

 

  • Regionalism:    Ms. Sylvia Lovely and the Kentucky League of Cities

     

  • Regional Cooperation:    Fayette County, Jessamine County, Madison County: Valley View Ferry Operation

     

  • Keeping our communities distinct and special:    Paris Main Street Program

     

  • New development that incorporates traditional principles:    Woodford County Economic Development Authority, City of Midway for the new Midway Commerce District on I-64

     

  • Historic Redevelopment:    Central Bank, Georgetown

     

  • Keeping our roads scenic:    Kentucky Transportation Cabinet : Bluegrass Corridor Management Planning Handbook

     

  • Environmental Sensitivity:    Kentucky Utilities for supporting regional environmental programs

     

  • Regional Heritage:    Bluegrass Regional History Museum, Winchester/Clark County

     

  • The Robert N. Clay President's Award - presented to the Board Member(s) who has done the most to advance Bluegrass Tomorrow's Mission over the last year:    Presented to Ben Fister, Bob Hewett, Molly Foree, Steve Beshear, Joe Graviss, Bill Thomason

     

  • The Toyota Motor Manufacturing Legacy Award - presented to the business organization that has set a superior example of vision and service in advancing the mission of Bluegrass Tomorrow:    Presented to Bank One of Kentucky
